Field trip to the Bronx Zoo on Sunday, March 12, 2023 from 10am until folks are done or 4:30pm closing. We will move through the zoo as a loose group with plenty of flexibility for folks to move at their own pace. We will eat lunch together on premises, but feel free to pack your own. Lots of outdoor and indoor exhibits to photograph. We will likely begin our tour at Bird World and move on from there.

here. There are currently plenty of tickets available, but don't miss out because suddenly the tickets get bought up.
We will be parking/meeting at 10am (to maximize time and avoid crowds or parking issues) at the Bronx River Gate which is at Exit 6 off of the Bronx River Parkway. See
here for further directions. Copy down Elijah's cell phone number in case you go to the wrong parking lot and/or get separated from the group during the day.
Masks are recommended by the park, but not required.
Favorites in year's past have been the various bird houses (opportunities to photograph many cool terrestrial and aquatic birds without cages/glass in the way), Jungle World, the tigers, the baboons, the gorillas, the sea lions, and of course the camera shy ebony langur monkeys at Jungle World. Often wild animals (like wild ducks and red-tailed hawks) are mixed in amongst the captive denizens and are habituated to people.
Plan on bringing at least a zoom or mid-telephoto lens. A longer telephoto or teleconverter can be helpful as well. Tripods are allowed, but may be restricted in certain areas or at the discretion of the zoo staff. Please always be respectful of other visitors so we don't create a problem for future photographers.
